Sports racers were growing in popularity by the mid-1960s. The Group 7 sports racers were the Big Boys. They had very few technical restrictions. No homologation requirements. First appearance at Watkins Glen 1969. It wasn't a factory effort, Amon was more or less told he could borrow the car.... It qualified and finished third on it's first outing and gathered a couple of seconds but wasn't quite a match for the McLarens.
