Terra Magica! I started to take pictures in Istria in 2002. I lived there for a couple of years and developed a deep feeling for the beauty of this mysteriously old half island. I had many days where I just grabbed my car and went out without having any plan. Anyway you can get lost on a half Island. These pictures are a result of those trips.

The Golden Cape

It's a perfect place to spent your beach days in Rovinj. Just starting right after the harbour, the Zlatni rt or Golden Cape stretches out up until the Polari campsite. I'd recommend you start from there, rent a bike at Funkybikes and cruise down the seafront path towards the harbour. Stop, take a swim, chill out in the shades or drink a coffee. You'll be well served. "The “Zlatni rt”, Golden Cape Forest Park is labeled as a "PROTECTED NATURAL WONDER" Together with Dubrovnik’s Trsteno park…

Vineyard near Brtonigla. Grapes remember. They encapsulate in their small bubble all what the year had brought - red hot summer days or stormy afternoons, soil with its properties, work of many hands. But this is only just a beginning . Istria, Istra, Croatia, vineyard, sunset, winter

Tree of life in Grožnjan | Istria

www.timertl.com www.facebook.com/1000thingsincroatia What to say about Grožnjan? I simply love it. I've been there on many occasions but even more on random trips around Istria. It always pulled me in or better uphill. The local Boccia place, the cemetery, yes indeed a good place to rest in piece to the main square, the music stage terrace to this wonderful huge oak. All places got gorgeous views. When you are finished with your round trip, take a rest in Kaya Energy Bar & Design…

Njoki with Gulaš

A very popular and traditional dish in Istria are Njoki (Gnocchi). The basic ingredients are potato flour, eggs, salt and water. Originally gnocchi are served with meat stews from deer, rabbit or boar, the so called Šugo in Istrian dialect. In our case it was beef meat, we’d say. Anyway it was cooked by Ms Zigante since the early morning, super soft and really really tasty. A bit of Parmesan on top of it, some wine directly from the cellar next door and a real Istrian taste explosion was…

Croatia provides plenty of places to spend a romantic holiday with your dear ones. You probably don't want to come there during high season but Spring and Autumn are just perfect. Wherever you go, the islands, Istria or Dalmatia, the weather is nice and the beach is yours. Photo taken at Stancija Baladur in Rakovci

The best way to discover Istria is actually to get lost. Don't worry, it's a half island so sooner or later you'll end up at the sea side. A bit of sun orientation assumed. You know East - West, don't go North too long, there is Slovenia and a boarder. You know East - West, don't go North too long, there is Slovenia and a boarder. That's how I found this road and many others. Get your car, have a sort of target but on the way turn left or right on random roads and you'll find wonderful hidden villages, remote valleys, deep oak forests, abandoned houses and local Konobas…
