CANADIAN ARMOURED CORPS LIEUTENANTS BATTLEDRESS TUNIC. In summer 1939 the Canadian army was still outfitted with the British influenced khaki serge service uniforms. In 1939 the British Army sent samples of their new M1937 pattern to Canada. The Canadian army tested these uniforms, and adopted them in August 1939. The Canadian battledress was virtually identical to British, but was manufactured in a slightly higher quality wool. It would be the standard issue Canadian uniform.
