Camp Chase was a Federal POW camp that held over 25,000 Confederate prisoners during the war, along with hundreds of civilians who were arrested for criticizing the Lincoln Government. 2,260 soldiers died in the prison due to intentional policies of the denial of food, clothing, and shelter, as well as occasional extra-judicial executions of prisoners by the guards.
