One More November Finish
I have one more November finish! I'm either way ahead or far behind in my seasonal sewing, but in any case, the Twilight quilt is done! The binding was finished on the last evening in November, and now Twilight will be packed away until next autumn. Hopefully I will remember where I put it--lol! Twilight designed by Buttermilk Basin I used a water erasable pen to mark the ribbon candy quilt path. When I do a repetitious quilting like this, I start to zone out and pretty soon I'm doing an…

Wild Goose Chase quilt block
Wild Goose Chase May 21, 1933-The Wild Goose Chase block originated in the New England states in early colonial days according to Nancy Cabot when she wrote about this block eighty years ago in the Chicago Tribune. She mentions again that "triangles are the popular symbol of bird designs." "Any one who has noticed the flight of wild geese will recognize instantly the inspiration back of this design" she wrote. Her pattern for the Wild Goose Chase quilt sold for "5 cents in stamps or coin." I…

Fall Back finish
Another completed quilt for 2013! And just in time for the cold weather that is already upon us here in Northern Illinois - there are snow flurries in the forecast today - what?! The "fall back" clock change hasn't even happened yet. But we are ready for snuggling with this extra large napping quilt. It's nearly twin sized, measuring 60" x 84" :) The all-over quilting pattern features acorns and maple, ash, and oak leaves. The quilting thread is a dark, rusty orange. It shows up really well…

Foursquare (with that cheddar!) by Jo Morton
Stars Finale
I found this photo online (sorry I cannot trace it back to the owner or the photographer) and it was the inspiration quilt for my Stars in a Time Warp. (The antique quilt is (was?) owned by Vintage Blessings. She has a shop on EBay and a FB page. If I recall correctly, she showed the cheddar star picture on FB and said she didn't know if she could let that one go. I haven't seen it for sale but I might have missed it. Someone must have copied her photo and put it on Pinterest without…

Playing
Admit it - you've played in your fabric, right? That is what I've been doing, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. While I've played, I've also sorted and organized a bit, so it was productive and fun all at the same time. One thing I do wayyyyy too much is look at pictures of quilts on Pinterest. I find that there are several that I am really crazy about, so I thought why not just go to the stash and see if I can find similar colors to recreate those quilts that seem to always captivate me. Let…
