While traveling in Oman, pickled onions seemed to be everywhere. On trips to the grocery store, I would buy a pack just to snack on, putting these tangy treats on everything. . On another adventure in Morocco, I loved watching the steet vendors while strolling along the coast. I would eye how the corn was grilled and seasoned, as it always looked so delicious. . "Otentik" (Authentic) Mauritian Chicken Curry. Today, I am excited to share a recipe I learned in a cooking class while staying at the Attitude hotel in Mauritius. I have always hesitated to make curry because I believe it's one of those dishes that must be made correctly. Having this opportunity was incredible for building my knowledge, and I've returned armed with spices we bought at a local market in Mahebourg. To share what Bärlauch (this is the German word - it is wild garlic) looks like... It is the leaves to the left of the photo. It is more subtle in taste than the piercing tang of garlic cloves and can be made into, or accompany so many dishes. Fougasse -- My herbs were going bad, and the lovely little cheeses, veggies, and honeycomb I picked up from the farmers market needed a helping hand (from the board to my mouth). Yes! Farmers markets are now open for business in Prague!  But that's not the main event - tonight I'll be making Bärlauch (wild garlic) spätzle. I'll be happy to share that recipe with you, soon. An upside of loving to cook is the endeavor of learning and putting my hands to use. I am interested in cooking for a few reasons: feeding my family and keeping personal traditions, keeping my hands busy to help manage OCD + anxiety symptoms, and learning about other cultures and to bring my travels home with me. It's a true adventure in many ways.  A meal that I have always wanted to learn is Khinkali, a Georgian dumpling and as an addition, I learned to make Svanetian Khachapuri.
