September 11 was a series of attacks by al-Qaeda ~ Four planes were hijacked to be flown into buildings. Two crashed into the World Trade Center in NYC, a third plane was crashed into the Pentagon in VA, and the fourth plane crashed near Shanksville, PA after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. The attacks claimed the lives of 2,996 people. It was the deadliest incident for firefighters and policemen in the history of the US, with 343 killed, 73 injured.
