"This painting is inspired by my reading of The Golden Legend by Jacobus de Voragine. He wrote a compendium of the saints. This one in particular is for St. Thomas the Apostle. Thomas was called the twin of Jesus, also Didymus, which means twin. I have represented Thomas as conjoined twins. Conjoined twins reinforce the notion of a spiritual connectivity, as feeling and living in the same body must give a unique connectivity that transcends what most people will ever experience. This particular
James Poro (1686 - , also known as Giacomo Poro, a a conjoined twin growing out of his stomach, names Matteo. He was born in Genoa, Italy. The second small body could function almost normally. If you hurt him, he would cry, and he could move a little bit. Both James and Matteo were baptized.
Ronnie and Donnie Galyon "The Galyon twins cast two votes and have two Social Security numbers, but only one passport. They are now retired from show business and living in Ohio, though are careful not to mention exactly where, since in the past they have been victims of harassment, vandalism and even threats. They bought their own house with their earnings. Their youngest brother Jim lives with them and helps look after them. They enjoy playing baseball with their brother."
Ronnie and Donnie Galyon, conjoined twins (born October 28, 1951) were joined from the sternum to the groin and shared a set of organs, so they could not be separated. The World's Oldest Conjoined Twins possess the world record for the longest-lived conjoined twins in history.
