Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it! We must never forget the Tulsa Massacre, or stop working for justice. On May 31-June 1, 1921, white mobs attacked Black residents, homes and businesses in Tulsa, OK. As many as 300 people were killed, 35 city blocks were destroyed. The mob targeted the prosperous Black community of Greenwood in a vicious act of white supremacy. "You Can't Be What You Can't See" -Marian Wright Edelman We celebrate the appointment of a smart, competent, hardworking and diligent woman to the Supreme Court. Oh, and she happens to be Black – the first Black woman who will serve on the court in its 233 years. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's elevation to the highest court of the land marks another important milestone in the long-term effort to create a functioning multi-racial democracy.

Celebrate our overlooked sisters: the African American women suffragist. Black women across the country came together preparing one another to overcome legal hurdles & reluctant registrars. They sought to gain the support of their white sisters in the suffrage movement to recognize that more work was needed to secure the vote for Women of Color. A new generation of dedicated Black women leaders continues this work today, combating well-organized voter suppression efforts across the country. Kyle Rittenhouse in Wisconsin, and Gregory and Travis McMichael and William "Roddie" Bryan Jr. in GA will likely escape any consequences. The US criminal “injustice” system – is almost never able to provide justice for people who are black, brown, poor, trans, women or a combination of those. Five years ago, Alfred Olango, a 38 year old refugee from Uganda, was shot four times by police on September 27, 2016 in El Cajon, CA.
