More #womeningardens - Daniel Ridgway Knight specialized in this kind of painting to great success: young women in romanticized rural clothing and charming flower-filled settings, often in France (note the heavy wooden sabots on her feet.) Yet they always seem a little posed, and although the scythe in this woman's hand and bundle beside her are intended to represent a hard morning's labor, that dainty - and remarkably clean! - hand to the brow isn't particularly convincing.
